A little backstory for this: I recently saw myself on video (HD in really bad lighting) and was completely horrified to see the aging process had hit me more than I had noticed prior to that. I’m still holding off on botox and fillers for the time being so I decided to try a new skin care regimen. I bought a Clarisonic (absolutely LOVE this gadget) and talked to the girl at Ulta for awhile who introduced me to the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair line of products by giving me quite a few samples to try out. I immediately recognized with those samples that my skin was really agreeing with all-natural products. Yay!

Well, on the way to a friend’s birtday party I stopped at Walgreen’s to pick up a natural moisturizer that could tide me over until I could purchase more Juice Beauty (I had run out of samples and needed a moisturizer that night and for the next day). So I grabbed Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream. Upon applying it later that night I was completely shocked at this discovery! I loved it so much that I decided I wouldn’t need the $65 tub of Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Cream afterall and would be using this $20 cream FOREVER instead. This cream makes my skin, soft, dewy and glowy! I simply LOVE this stuff!

Well, when I find something I like, or when I am trying to find something new, I do a LOT of research. I looked at the reviews for this dream cream on Burt’s Bees website and saw quite a few complaints about them recently changing the formula. Uh oh! I originally didn’t care because I assumed I had the new version of this cream and it was was so amazing! But now I am wondering if I actually have the old one, because I picked up the eye cream and the packaging is a bit different and so is the fragrance. The eye cream has a silver lid and the Day Cream has a white lid. I’m really thinking it’s the old one, honestly, and am worried about having to switch to the new one once this container is finished.

Thank you to all of the girls for participating and for rallying votes! It was a close and crazy race to the finish! It reminded me of the story of ‘the tortoise and the hare’ actually. It started off with a bang, in Teri’s favor. Then Danielle creeped up to take the lead, then back to Teri, then Danielle again, then Teri and finally Shana’s slow and steady approach broke through in the last few days. So impressed by each of you and I would have been proud to have you all as Spokesmodels so please try again next year!

According to quite a few of my past clients, these are the expressions their husbands favored the most:

1. They LOVE seeing their ladies enjoying themselves in their images, so be sure to smile!

2. Laughter is also incredibly flattering in photos, as it is one of the most powerful ways of depicting emotion. And, your guy wants to see you having fun! So, go ahead and laugh it up!

3. He also likes a relaxed expression, in which it appears that you have no idea that you are being captured on camera. So, relax those jaw muscles, slightly part your lips and just breathe!

I also recently read a survey in which people rated attractiveness in random photos based on expressions only and men always leaned more towards the expressions that made a woman look most approachable and attainable, like a simple, smiling face.

So, throw away the “Duck Face’ expression and say goodbye to ‘Blue Steel’. All you really need is to relax and have a great time! Oh, and emote through your eyes! As Tyra Banks always says…”SMIZE” (Smiling with your eyes)!

This was her third photo shoot with us and we couldn’t be happier! She is one of our all-time favorite out-of-towners and we are thrilled each and every time she says she wants to do another session! We decided to go towards a more fashiony look this time for hair and makeup. If only the wind would have cooperated! Such a blast though! Cannot wait till the next one!

First off, I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to be a part of what I think is a movement for real, beautiful women! Also, sorry this is so last minute I really went back and forth as to whether to enter but I am going for it!

A Las Vegas native, I have a been a frequent mustache and crazy eyebrow hairy monster client of Kat’s haha I have always admired your work from afar. Only recently reading a little more about you and Haute Shots mission. There are so many beautiful women out there that have NO IDEA how beautiful they are…I unfortunately used to be one of them…I have always been a ham dancing ballet and performing, never minding my picture taken, but never really accepting that I was beautiful…almost 5 years ago my mom passed away and I just consumed myself in my masters program and work…I lost that confidence that I once had, never thinking I could even think about modeling…I am no size 2 and my big ole feet and awkward nose certainly didn’t lend itself to amazingness…What you do in your portraits is make us ordinary women feel like models…and why can’t we be models…you take what we once thought was our fault and turn it into our gift..and THAT is why I want to be the 2012 Haute shots spokes model…while models are incredible to look at, I often find myself looking for women who kinda look like me…maybe a little more meat..and some imperfections…

I started a personal blog about a year ago which has now turned into somewhat of a fashion blog…who would have thought other women would look at me and thinkI was fashionable…then I realized…I thought I was pretty fashionable…and that is why they thought so…You truly have a gift Stacie…and photography is just one of them…reading your testimonials it is obvious that you have created not only a picture but an experience for these women…and I would bet you have changed their lives for the better. Would love to be a part of this journey! Thank you again for the opportunity!
