Just in time for the new year, Haute Shots is under-going a little facelift! The upcoming year will bring some exciting changes for us, such as the launch of our new beauty photography division, so the brand needed to reflect that. Here is a little taste of things to come….

Happy Haute Mama Day | Las Vegas Boudoir
This Mother’s Day, Haute Shots & Hera Beauty would like to wish all of you beautiful Mommies a very Happy Mother’s Day! For all you do, from paying the bills, cleaning the messes and getting everyone out of the house on time, while wearing your stiletto heels- we salute you!
I would also like to honor my own Mother on this special day. Happy Mother’s Day to a woman who played the single most pivotal role in my life. A hard worker who spent most of her life just struggling to make the best life possible for her daughter, me. Thank you Mom for all you have done for me and our family. Thank you for encouraging and supporting me in spite of my many often silly dreams and my own struggles. Your belief in me helped me to believe in myself and grow into the woman I am today. I love you more than words can express Mom. You are still my Wonder Woman (Linda Carter style) – bubbling over with strength, beauty, love and grace. With love, your grateful daughter.

Slight Pause | Las Vegas Boudoir
Just wanted to apologize for a bit of silence on the blog and the facebook page for the past week. I have been hit with the worst migraine of my life for the past 5 days and am trying to just concentrate on the most important items on my to-do-list…like shoots and orders. This is a job that you can’t really take sick days from but I am going to have to take it easy for the rest of the day until my shoot later. So, if I don’t get back to your emails until tomorrow, please forgive me.
Are any of you sufferers with migraines? I would love to hear your remedies for migraine prevention and treatment in the comments below.

Marketing For Photographers | Las Vegas Boudoir
I was recently invited back as a guest on the About Photography podcast show with Ed Verosky to give my thoughts on marketing. I was honored to be featured alongside the oh-so-fabulous Robin Owen. We had so much fun talking about something I hold dear to my heart – marketing for photography. With a background in marketing and design, I very much enjoy sharing some of my methods and hope that many of you will find this helpful in your photography business endeavors!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this after listening to it. Please feel free to comment or ask questions here on my blog or on the podcast page. Look forward to hearing from you!

Bikini Season is Upon Us | Las Vegas Boudoir
For the first time in my entire life I am living at a house that has a swimming pool. Exciting, yes, but also a bit terrifying since our backyard opens up for all of our neighbors to see as well as people in the park out back and those who utilize the walking trail. So with summer upon us I am having a bit of a panic attack. I am nowhere near being bikini ready, especially when put on display!
So, when Whitney (of Hera Beauty) text messaged me last night that MotivFit was running a special for another Body Blast class, I knew I had better take advantage of this. You can read about our prior experience with MotivFit here and here. I am the wimpiest person ever, so if I can do it, so can you! In fact, I would love if a bunch of you joined us!
MotivFit is offering a phenomenal deal for Body Blast which runs 3 days per week for 4 weeks. Whitney and I are planning on doing their morning classes at Anthem Hills Park in Henderson every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30am.
For more information on this class go here. To go ahead and register, click right here. This class is being sold for $69 (normally $199) until 4/17/2011 at 12am so hurry and register! I would LOVE to see you there!

For Other Photographers | Las Vegas Boudoir
I am head over heels in love with photography and absolutely adore running my own business. Both of these things bring me ridiculous amounts of joy that I feel so very grateful for every single day. My life was never easy and it was a long, hard road getting here, but persistence, honesty and hope brought me to the point I’m at now. I worked very, very hard to get here. I realize there are no shortcuts in life. But persistence definitely pays off and it begins to feel like life rewards you for persevering through the trials that lead you to your calling.
Unfortunately, there is an ugly side to running a photography business too. I am consistently shocked at how shady some people are by stealing images, copy from my website and even stealing my hard-earned client testimonials. You also get some who try to acquire your price list by acting like a potential client and even some who go as far as sending a ‘faux client’ to get the inside scoop on my business. I just don’t understand why people feel the need to do this.
Running your own business, especially a creative one such as Photography should be a fun and unique experience. You should have enough photos that you are proud of (that you have taken on your own) to use in your portfolio if you are promoting yourself as a professional photographer. And you should feel passionate enough about what you do that words just flow naturally when describing your business on your website and to others. And, if you are doing a job well done, testimonials will come naturally, and often! Testimonials are a reward for your hard work. Just let them come to you. Most of all, remember to be an original! People don’t want to hire a person trying to be someone else. They want to hire YOU, (yes YOU) if you will allow yourself to shine genuinely for everyone to see. And, if these things just aren’t there for you yet, then just keep photography as a hobby until you are more ready. Nothing wrong with that at all!
So, in trying to think of a solution for all of this, I realize that maybe I could possibly help those of you who feel stuck and might be contemplating doing something unethical as I spoke of above. I get a lot of requests to offer workshops. Is this something many more of you would want? Would you rather I write a book? Or make myself available for mentoring?
I really just want to see everyone reach their own potential, which is unique for all of us. I definitely don’t want to see our industry going down the tube because of a few bad apples either.
So, please tell me, how can I help you?

About Photography Podcast | Las Vegas Boudoir
Recently I was honored to be a guest on Ed Verosky’s About Photography Podcast series. Ed picked my brain about the business of boudoir, Vegas-style. I had so much fun doing this podcast with him. I absolutely love my job and adore my clients so once I got over my initial nerves I thoroughly enjoyed getting to talk about my world of boudoir! Ed was a fantastic host who put me right at ease (he is also a very accomplished and talented photographer). I can’t wait to do it again!
I truly hope that budding photographers as well as experienced photographers will find something in the podcast useful or interesting. Some of the things I mention in the podcast that I think are worth expanding on here for other photographers are:
Marketing:
Stop following other boudoir photographers and research instead big brands that share your target audience. We have a huge problem in our rapidly growing industry right now with copying. Newbies are copying websites word for word, using others images, marketing campaigns, etc. Big no-no. Instead, find inspiration that you can make your own. Another marketing tip is to invest in a graphic designer for your marketing material, website and logo. It will make a huge difference, I promise!
Photography:
The same could be said for finding your own style of photography. Look towards other photography niches to find inspiration….fashion, glamour, beauty, even weddings. It seems as though some of the masters of photography are being overlooked in favor of new photographers. But, you can find so much inspiration from the likes of Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Ellen von Unwerth, Herb Ritts, Terry Richardson, Peter Lindbergh, and Mario Testino to name only a few. Just remember not to copy them but to find inspiration from them.
Portfolio Building:
I know my comments regarding using models may not be popular in my industry but it is something I feel very strongly about. If your target audience is real women who are not accustomed to posing in front of a camera and who have realistic body types for the average woman, then you really shouldn’t be shooting models for your portfolio. You lose the potential to learn how to work with body issues, self esteem issues and won’t be prepared for the real thing when it comes along. It’s a bit deceiving for women who are contemplating using you. It could potentially hurt your clients sense of confidence if you are unaccustomed to working with real gals not used to being in such a vulnerable situation. If you insist on using a model for these purposes, please include a disclaimer that she is in fact a model. On the flip side, if your target clientele is actually models then obviously this is perfectly fine or if you have personal artistic projects. This is just my opinion, of course, but I do feel very protective of women looking for a photographer who understands how to work with them individually, with their fears and perceived flaws.
So, there ya have it. My first podcast interview! I’m absolutely thrilled and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did doing it!
Comments are always welcome and appreciated. Let me know if you have any questions at all and I would be more than happy to answer them.
xoxo

Most Fabulous Night Ever | Las Vegas Boudoir
What a fun night we ended up having in honor of Haute Shots 2nd Anniversary! We all met up on the third level of The Chandelier bar at The Cosmopolitan in our own private little glorious section and we talked, we giggled and drank yummy drinks like The Butterfly! I was so pleased to see everyone who showed up, and thrilled to have a recent client from San Francisco join us as well as other clients from AZ who have become fast friends! So happy that you all could join us!
The Cosmopolitan is hands down my favorite spot in Vegas now! It’s sparkly, modern and simply beautiful! And they have a secret pizza joint with no branding (no name, plain white pizza boxes, etc) that is the coolest find in our city! Our group was able to find it thanks to the amazing pastry chef (past phenomenal client) we had in our group who was definitely ‘in the know’! Seriously, if you are ever at the Cosmopolitan Secret Pizza is the perfect stop to end your late night before heading home. Let me know if you ever find it and experience their yummy, gooey, greasy, slices of pure goodness.
I have to say that my only regret that night was that I didn’t get to spend as much quality time as I would have liked with each and every person there. It’s hard work playing hostess! I had to work the room evenly…not an easy task. But, I cherished each moment I spent with you all and am so very grateful to have been able to celebrate this special occasion with all of you! Thank you so much for helping to make the night so special.
xoxo

WPPI Recap 2011 | Las Vegas Boudoir
I am still reeling from the excitement of this past week! I learned so much, met so many amazing people (Jerry Ghionis & Robert Evans!!! – to name only a few), and was going nonstop from about 5am till 2am most days that I am having a hard time wrapping my head around it all. WPPI filled me with so much knowledge, ideas and insights even though I couldn’t attend half of what I had originally thought I could. There was just too much going on!
• Having my image featured on products at a vendor booth to highlight their new presentation boxes (see image above – taken with my iPhone)! This was such an honor to have my work selected for this, recognized and showcased this way!
• Getting to know some of my vendors at the parties! I truly work with the best of the best! This was absolutely reaffirmed when I got to know them personally
• Spending time with my fellow boudoir photographer peers from forums. We are all so lucky to get to do what we do, aren’t we? It was very important to me to make sure to spend time with these gals. Glad I was able to find the time to do it!
• Getting to know some local photographers in different niches. I see the importance of networking with you all and helping each other grow. For this, I am very grateful.
• Finding amazing new products to offer! Oh my goodness, hold on to your seats everyone…I can’t wait to get some new samples to show you!
• Learning, learning, learning….from the technical side to the business side of photography, I gained so much knowledge!
• My favorite classes were by Brian Smith and Jose Villa! Both so inspiring and informative!
• I also enjoyed the Women in Contemporary Photography panel discussion!
With all of that said, be sure to watch for some big changes to be coming soon for Haute Shots! My aim has always been to provide you with the best experience possible but it’s about to get even better!!
Glad to be back in the office. Time to play major catch-up now!

Getting Ready for WPPI 2011 | Las Vegas Boudoir
Tomorrow begins the delightful madness known to us photographers as WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Conference and Tradeshow). As you can see from my previous post about WPPI 2010, it is going to be one of the most inspiring, educational and insanely fun events of the year for me. I feel like a kid at Christmas, seriously!
I told myself last year that I would narrow down the classes I am taking before the actual event but this is proving more difficult than I thought. There are going to be so many truly amazing speakers again this year! So far, I am leaning towards learning from Jesh de Rox (can’t wait to experience his Beloved Revolution – I hear his talk last year was so good that it brought many to tears), Julieanne Kost (digital imaging evangelist), Brian Smith (celebrity portrait photographer), Jose Villa (fine art wedding photographer), Sandy Puc (portraits) & Jerry Ghionis, (wedding photographer). There are many others I want to see speak too. I will also be attending the Airplanes & Blazers party (here’s a video from their Airhorns & Lasers party last year)…woohoo! That is just a very brief overview of a tiny portion of the events that will be going on. Oh my goodness, I almost forgot that I get to see fashion photographer NIGEL BARKER – you may recognize him as the ridiculously good-looking photographer from America’s Next Top Model! He is hosting the Sony Fashion Show on Sunday night! I’m sooo excited!
If you are a photographer reading this and you happen to see me at WPPI this year, please come say hi! It’s a much more interesting place when you get to know everyone! I know I am looking forward to seeing the awesome people I met there last year, as well as meeting many, many new friends!

WPPI 2010 Recap | Las Vegas Boudoir
In planning for my favorite week of the year as a photographer – WPPI (next week!), I realized I had drafted a post about last year’s conference but never posted it because I was waiting to receive an image to include with it. I am just going to post the old draft now anyway so you can all see how amazing this conference was for me both professionally and personally. It’s going to be even better this year! So many exciting things in store! I can’t wait to get to share it all with you!
• • • • • • • •
Wow, what a whirlwind the past couple of weeks has been! I came away from WPPI feeling completely inspired, encouraged and feeling like I could take on the world!
Here are a few highlights:
First off, I have to thank Maura Kate of Irma Lou Photography for paying it forward BIG time. I had planned on attending the Business Institute and just going to the Trade Show, or taking baby steps since last year I only went to the trade show and thought next year I would be able to attend the classes too. Well, after atending the Business Institute I realized I was left with this yearning to learn more and be a part of all of the action. In comes Irma, who suddenly wasn’t able to make it to WPPI this year and through Leigh of Fleur di Leigh Photography, offered to give her Full Access ticket away! And, she gave it to me! Oh my goodness, I can’t even begin to express how grateful I was for this generous gift. You two ladies made my year! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn more about my craft and continue pursuing my dream!
The most inspiring class I took had to be wedding photographer Jasmine Star’s Ghetto Fabulous Marketing. I was most excited to hear her speak, even though I really didn’t think I needed to learn anything else at the show about Marketing. Her first class had sold out, but I was fortunate enough to have just picked up my ticket for WPPI to hear an announcement of her makeup class. I ran straight up to grab a seat. She definitely didn’t disappoint. While I already knew her story, I found her to be utterly inspiring in staying true to yourself and putting more of your personality out there. One of the most important things she said that stuck with me is that it’s okay if not everybody likes you. I know this, but as a perfectionist I fight this all the time. Hearing her say that actually repelling some people though is a positive thing since you don’t want to waste your time on the wrong people anyway, resonated with me deeply.
I LOVED seeing the Print Gallery of the finalists in the print competition. So inspiring to see such great work all in one space. Although, I was a bit disappointed to see that boudoir images were lacking in presence there.
The Trade Show was awesome since I got to meet my vendors in person. I was especially excited to meet Casey who handles my account with Forbeyon – they produce my Luxury Albums so beautifully.
And, of course, there were the parties on Tuesday night. Well, there were parties every night but I limited the ones I attended to just that evening. First up was the Boudoir Get-together that I coordinated at Rouge inside of the MGM. There was a pretty decent turn-out. Thank you to all who attended! We all network with each other online, so it was so great to see so many amazing boudoir shooters in person finally! After that a few of us all headed over to the[ B] Party which Becker of The [B] School was throwing at Mandalay Bay. Becker was such a gracious host. I was impressed by how he greeted everyone at the door himself and let us all know where the goods were…the goods being fantastic mexican food (delish tacos etc) and drinks (yummy margaritas and sangrias). I was so glad I went with my own group of fellow photographers though, as people seemed to be sticking to their own little groups instead of networking and mingling. I would have felt completely awkward trying to meet people in a situation like that!
Another highlight that evening was actually getting to meet Jasmine Star! The ever-so-popular pin-up photographer Robert Alvarado even snapped a picture of me with her! Thanks for being so kind and generous Jasmine!
Towards the end of the festivities I was fortunate enough to get to do a boudoir session for another boudoir photographer! Talk about fun! I was sooo glad I was able to work that into my schedule, as I had turned away a couple other boudoir photographers, not knowing if I could find the time during WPPI. But, it worked out for this one, thankfully! She was just as pretty as can be too. She reminded me of Kate Beckinsale!
I am both a bit relieved WPPI has ended so I can get back to business as normal, but a bit sad also. There was so much that I feel like I missed. Next year I am thinking of actually taking the week off (maybe even staying at the MGM) since I had a hard time trying to tackle all of that plus my work load. And, because my phone signal was just awful there I decided it would be better to plan on meeting up with other photographers way in advance. So, next year I will be painstakingly planning out my schedule with classes, activities and meetups.
I am more devoted than ever to becoming the best photographer and business woman I can possibly be. Thank you WPPI and to all the cool people I met for making me even more passionate about what I do. Because of WPPI I am excited about implementing some changes to Haute Shots for better workflow, marketing, etc.

Bangs Before Botox | Las Vegas Boudoir
Well, after an overwhelming vote on facebook in favor of me getting bangs, I went and did it! What do you think?
Seriously, I am not enjoying aging one little bit and figured I would try getting bangs again since they are so youthful looking instead of getting botox. I am an overly expressive person and am starting to show lines on my forehead because of this. And, bangs are fantastic at hiding that! I still might try botox one of these days, but most likely I will be trying it for help with migraines instead of aging.
Special thanks to Jackie at Michael Boychuck’s COLOR Salon for not only talking me through my fear of getting bangs, but for doing such a great job! xoxo
P.S. Jennifer Aniston just got bangs too! They look gorgeous on her! See her new bangs here.

Bangs Poll | Las Vegas Boudoir
Alrightie, so I have a hair appointment on Thursday morning and I am considering getting bangs. I feel like I need some sort of change with this being a fresh new year and all, but I’m completely undecided. I need your help. I would love to get your opinion on whether you think I should just go for it or not. Here are two pics of me…one is current with no bangs and the other is old with bangs.I have a rather difficult time with change when it comes to my appearance but I feel like my hair is looking a little blah the way it is now. Hmmm…what to do…
What is your vote? Yes on bangs or no???

Happy New Year | Las Vegas Boudoir
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you celebrated the holidays in style and are ready for a bright & fabulous new year! I know I am ready to see what the new year has in store!
What did all of you do for the holidays? We celebrated with my family and then whisked off to New York to celebrate with Joe’s family. We got snowed in on our third day there! It was so beautiful and cozy and I loved getting to know Joe’s family better that way. As much fun as the holidays were though, I have to say I am relieved they are over. I am ready to be completely focused on my work and home-life again.
Speaking of home-life, I came home to find my little Mazzy girl in need of some medical care…uggh. The poor little thing had to have an operation yesterday. I hate seeing her like this and absolutely can’t wait for her to be back to her normal, cheerful self again! I can’t stand the cone she is having to wear!

I’m really looking forward to finally being able to find the time to update the blog with pretty pictures from al of the shoots we have done in the past couple of months! Keep an eye out for pure ‘hauteness’!
Happy New Year everyone!!!

A Little Update | Las Vegas Boudoir
Happy Holidays everyone! Hoping that you are enjoying the season thus far!
Wow, it has been a couple of crazy months around here! Jam-packed with fun boudoir shoots, processing, editing, holiday orders, the holidays and a big move! I am about ready for it to be January already! Whew! As much as I love being busy, I honestly didn’t expect that business would have nearly tripled from last year so it caught me a little off-guard, but I managed to pull it off without a hitch! Holiday orders are out and delivered! Yay! Thank you to everyone for such a great end to the year! I met so many amazing women through it all.
What are you all doing for the holidays? I am celebrating Christmas at our new house this evening with my family. Immediately after that, Joe and I are flying off to New York to celebrate with his family. I will be away until December 31st. While away, I will be checking email so if you need anything feel free to write to me at info@hauteshots.net.
I’m counting my many blessings this season, and you all are a big part of that! May you and your family have a very blessed holiday too!
Happy holidays!!!

Blog Hiatus | Las Vegas Boudoir
As many of you may have noticed, my blog was down recently, much to my chagrin! I have had so much going on and so many shoots I wanted to blog about but it all had to be put on hold until we could figure out how to reclaim all of the content our hosting company had lost when their server crashed. Well, we are back up and running now! Woohoo!
Anyway, I will try my best throughout what is the busiest holiday or boudoir season ever for me to start updating more often. Hope you all have been doing well and are enjoying the holiday season!

Sharing is Caring | Las Vegas Boudoir
I enjoy sharing sweet emails and testimonials I receive not to brag by any means, but to let potential clients know from the mouths of actual clients what they can expect from a Haute Shots session with me. I fully believe in offering a fabulous experience from the first moment of contact until far after your shoot is finished. I build relationships, not just clientelle. I think the best proof of this is from seeing what others are saying. So, imagine my delight when a client wrote this recent glowing review:

Love, Love, Love
A girlfriend and I did our photo shoot back in May, and I must say it was an amazing experience. I was very nervous at the beginning of the shoot, but by my second outfit, I was feeling good and completely comfortable, and by the third outfit, I was digging into the cotton candy Stacie brought to share!! I am so critical of myself, and worried that I wouldn’t like any of my pictures, but after seeing my sneak peeks, I realized the magic Stacie was able to create. I absolutely LOVED my photos. I loved them so much, I actually changed my contract to allow her to show more pictures of me on her Facebook and webpage!! My secret dream is to see myself advertised for Haute Shots on a billboard as I drive into Las Vegas!! Thank you Stacie for making the boudoir photo shoot a truly superb experience! I cannot say enough about all you have done for me, and my self esteem!!• • • • • • • •
Hope this helps give some of you who may be wavering on having a boudoir session of your own, find the confidence to just go for it. You only live once afterall – why not capture your beauty now for all time? It’s fun, I promise!

Fiery Redhead for One Night Only | Las Vegas Boudoir
Since I began photographing boudoir I always take notice of how hair color photographs. While blonde hair really catches more light, reds in my opinion look simply amazing! There is something so pretty and dramatic about that hair color. Honestly, I always hated it growing up, since I had auburn hair and it’s the most made fun of color for a child. But I have since changed my mind about it and decided to give it another try the other night by wearing a red wig for Halloween. I loved it! I have never felt sexier! I am now a brunette (I do love brown hair!) but have also tried blonde in my younger years and I have to say it’s redheads that have the most fun! And according to this article they also have more – ummm – let’s just say ‘passion’?!
Halloween was such a blast! It was a very last minute decision to even dress up since we had friends who decided to come to Vegas spontaneously to celebrate this fun holiday. I finally talked my boyfriend Joe into dressing as one of the characters of Gilligan’s Island so I could dress as Ginger. It tied in nicely with my Ginger & Mary Ann packages, afterall! Joe was such a good sport though – he decided to go as Gilligan! Gilligan never looked hotter!
I really thought these would be easy ‘costumes’ to find. The day of the festivities we ventured out to acquire our outfits. We were literally out all day in search of these things and made do with what little we could find. Poor Joe had to spray paint the hat he found after failed attempts to bleach it white turned it PINK! I was worried about him going up into flames all night! Thankfully we never had to use a fire extinguisher on him! The Ginger wig was almost impossible to find too. The one I ended up using wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but it worked just fine. Although after seeing these pics (below) I wish someone would have told me it was slipping off! The bangs, which were my favorite part, were supposed to be much lower on my forehead! I am seriously considering adding bangs to my hair after this though!
Thanks to all of our friends for a fabulous night! It was so great to see you all!
Did you all have a nice Halloween? What did you dress as this year?

Tea Lover | Las Vegas Boudoir
I subscribe to Rachel Zoe’s newsletter for fashion inspiration but sometimes she showcases other things of interest. For instance today she introduced me to a loose leaf tea company that I had never heard of before now…Adagio. You can create your own blends of tea there! They look super yummy! I went ahead and made my own. I always drink energizing teas but had nothing to drink at night that wouldn’t keep me up past my bedtime. So, I created a Boudoir Blend – a sexy, nighttime blend of tea perfect for sipping in your boudoir before bedtime.! You can check it out or even buy some for yourself if you feel so inclined. I do not get a percentage of the profits. This was just for me but thought I would share. Let me know if you try it! Or if you try any other blend from this company!
***Update***
Just read that each time anyone purchases my BOUDOIR BLEND I will receive 10 frequent cup points! Woohoo!

San Francisco, here I come! | Las Vegas Boudoir
“No city invites the heart to come to life as San Francisco does. Arrival in San Francisco is an experience in living.” ~William Saroyan
I will be away from the office from Saturday until next Wednesday because I am heading for San Francisco!!! Sooo thrilled to be going back to this lovely city! Joe will be attending a conference there that will keep him occupied from around 7am – 7pm everyday. I pretty much begged him to bring me with him even though I will be spending most of my time there alone. I honestly don’t usually do so well in situations on my own like that but I am actually welcoming the adventure this time! I experienced Milan, Italy under the exact same circumstances many years ago, and found it to be one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life. When you are exploring a new city alone, you get to know it a bit more in depth on your own terms…kinda nice! I have already plotted out some of the things I can do in or around the Union Square area that are all accessible by foot. Really excited!
Some of the things I am hoping to do:
MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) – this is an absolute must for me! If I chicken out on doing anything else by myself I am still going to make sure I do this one for sure.
Lunch or dinner at a few French style cafes such as Cafe Claude or Chez Papa
Sushi at Sanraku and maybe Akiko’s
Of course I have to stop at the local LUSH to stock up on a couple of goodies for my time there!
It would be great if we can see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof while we are there!
Sunday’s a Drag Brunch at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room sounds pretty interesting too!
Happy Hour at Fifth Floor Restaurant perhaps?
A Thai massage at Suchada would be pretty fantastic!
Or maybe a Parafango Treatment from the Burke Williams Spa?
But, alas I will most likely pay a visit to the local Border’s book shop when I first arrive to get some books I haven’t had the time to read while I am in Vegas working on other things. Yes, sadly, I will probably be spending the majority of my time in the hotel room (hope it has a great view!) reading & working on business ideas and using the hotel gym while I am in this fair city this time.
I’ve already seen a lot of the typical San Fran attractions – walked the Golden Gate Bridge, went to the Fisherman’s Wharf, went down the zigzagy road, etc. So my idea of exploring only a few blocks should really be a breeze, if I muster up the courage to do it!
What are some of your favorite San Francisco attractions? Are there any other things in the Union Square area that I shouldn’t miss out on seeing or doing?

Just thought I would check in with you all and give you some updates.
The Holidays are upon us (in the photography world anyway) and I am hopeful that you will consider booking your boudoir sessions soon if you would like to have product in time for Christmas. I know it’s only September but when you factor in a LOT of other photo shoots, image processing, gallery creating, final image retouching, product layout, and vendor production times, you can begin to understand why it’s important to schedule early. Plus if you schedule early you are more likely to get the exact date you are wanting for your session! I am considering making the cut-off date for most Christmas product orders November 25th, so you will need to do your shoot a week or two before that deadline. By the way, appointments are booking really fast. September is already my most booked month ever…woohoo!
San Francisco bound! Please note that I will be away from the office and unavailable for shoots (in Las Vegas anyway) from October 9th through the 13th. I will be wandering around aimlessly through a city I am quite fond of….fun! I would consider doing boudoir sessions while I am there though so if you live in the Bay area and are interested in this, please let me know ASAP by contacting me here.
On a final not, I just had to mention the shoot we did yesterday! It was beyond fabulous! Held in a TWO STORY penthouse suite with the most glamorous and downright awesome girl, it was a photographers dream come true! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to share these images as this particular gal opted to keep them private, but trust me when I tell you, they were to-die-for! This particular client opted to have Kat stay and do different makeup looks and will most assuredly have amazing variations of pictures to choose from because of this. She did a Marilyn-esque glamorous look, a more natural, softer look and a more haute couture look for high drama (that one was my personal favorite). Normally, Kat and Whitney stay for one hair/makeup look but this option is available to you too if it interests you (for an additional fee, of course). It’s a great way to add a bit more ‘fantasy’ to your images. Please let me know if you would like to add this option when booking your session.

While on vacation in Hawaii recently I discovered that running can be lots of fun! The scenery there was so breathtaking which helped to take my mind off the challenge of pushing forward and it just felt good to start my day that way. I found I had more energy to sustain me through the rest of the day. So, upon my arrival home to Vegas I decided to give it a shot here too. We have gorgeous trails around my neighborhood and while we typically go walking and biking, I never do these things on my own and definitely never used the trails for jogging. Well, I am really, really enjoying it so far! I typically head out there on Tuesdays and Thursdays very, very early and am using an iphone app called Couch To 5k that has been very helpful in keeping me motivated. The other mornings of the week I have been walking the trails with a friend…soo much fun! I have a Pedometer iPhone app I try to remember to use for that too and can’t believe how many calories it says we are burning from just walking! Can’t wait to eventually get new running shoes and cute tops and shorts to go with my new hobby!
When I become interested in something, I go in head first and become pretty much consumed with passion for it. My work is one such thing (I love it so much I live and breathe it), my family and friends obviously, now walking/jogging and even tea! I just made the switch succesfully from coffee to tea and am absolutely loving it! I fell in love with the store Teavana. The staff will give you quite an education on tea if you ask, and also are very helpful in selecting just the right tea for you.
I definitely think reading Eat, Pray, Love gave me a bit more bravery to make more of an effort to set aside time just for me that’s healthy, yet fun. Soo excited for the movie to open this weekend! Do any of you have plans to go see it?
What are some of the things you are doing just to celebrate you and make you a better, healthier person?
