Expressions...ah, they are one of the most challenging parts of a boudoir shoot, or any photo session, for that matter. It just plain feels weird when you are trying to make expressions that look good, yet you can't actually see what you are doing as you are making them! I know from my own experiences being in front of the camera that it is an awkward thing to have to do. Well, rest assured, I will be helping you with this along the way during your own photo session with me. However, here's some food for thought in the meantime:
According to quite a few of my past clients, these are the expressions their husbands favored the most:
1. They LOVE seeing their ladies enjoying themselves in their images, so be sure to smile!
2. Laughter is also incredibly flattering in photos, as it is one of the most powerful ways of depicting emotion. And, your guy wants to see you having fun! So, go ahead and laugh it up!
3. He also likes a relaxed expression, in which it appears that you have no idea that you are being captured on camera. So, relax those jaw muscles, slightly part your lips and just breathe!
I also recently read a survey in which people rated attractiveness in random photos based on expressions only and men always leaned more towards the expressions that made a woman look most approachable and attainable, like a simple, smiling face.
So, throw away the "Duck Face' expression and say goodbye to 'Blue Steel'. All you really need is to relax and have a great time! Oh, and emote through your eyes! As Tyra Banks always says..."SMIZE" (Smiling with your eyes)!
