We just arived home from our trip to Dubai. Feeling exhilerated by it all, and admittedly a bit jetlagged too. I am going to try to catch you all up on how we spent days 7 & 8 here and I am sure there wil be more posts about our trip in the near fiture too.
BTW, please be patient with me as I get caught up on all of the emails filling my inbox. It might take a few days.
Day 7 was spent at the beautiful beach. I LOVED people watching there! It felt like the most European beach I had ever been too, although topless was not allowed. I did however see a LOT of guys and boys in speedos, and basic string bikinis seemed to be the swimwear of choice by the ladies, no matter their shape or size. I maybe saw only one full swimsuit there. I loved the confidence I saw in the women at the beach!
That night our friends threw a dinner party at their place. I was silently suffering from a migraine that the desert safari brought on the night before. I really was enjoying the conversations and champagne though until I my headache became unbearable and I had to go lay down. This was by far the wort part of the trip. I was so disappointed to have to leve these fascinating group of people with the most incredible stories of their lives and travels. They were all European so before I called it a night I made sure to ask each of them the proper pronunciation of the word BOUDOIR, since I hear it pronounced so many ways here in America. As I suspected, it sounds more like BOODWAH than boodwar. So after having been talked into pronouncing that 'R' by fellow photogs here in the states, I am dropping it again. Thought that was an interesting little tidbit.
The next day Joe set ut to find me a migraine prescription at a local pharmacy. He came back with medicine that made it possible for me to go with everyone on our friend's boat. I was so happy about this! It ended up being one of the many amazing experiences for me in Dubai! This was the only time I brought my camera out for this vacation, by the way. Because we did so much walking, I needed to travel light and just took pics with my iPhone most of the time. So here is a visual account of our boating experience.....
Towards the end of our boat journey, our friend's adorable little daughter, yelled, "Look at that lady!!!" Her eyes were wide with astonishment and I turned around to see what she was talking about and sure enough, it looked like a lady was on the ledge of a tall building waiting to jump! We turned the boat around and grabbed some binoculars and were happy to see we wouldn't be rescuing anyone that day when we realized it was just a lamp of sorts. LOL
